1. Introduction

Time Zone Buddy (“Time Zone Buddy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a browser extension that helps users compare time zones, identify available meeting times, and copy formatted availability into email. This Privacy Policy explains what information Time Zone Buddy accesses, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we access

Google Calendar availability

When you connect Google Calendar, Time Zone Buddy may access:

  • Free/busy time ranges
  • Your primary calendar time zone
  • Basic calendar metadata necessary for availability and time zone functionality

Time Zone Buddy does not need to display event titles, descriptions, attendees, notes, or other event content for its core functionality.

Gmail page information

While you are composing or viewing an email in Gmail, Time Zone Buddy may read the following from the page:

  • Contact name
  • Contact email address
  • Email domain

This information is used to associate a contact with a selected time zone and to support the Find time zone workflow.

Time zone and preference information

  • Your preferred time zone
  • Saved contact time zones
  • Meeting duration preferences
  • Working-hour preferences
  • Interface settings

Some of this information may be stored locally in your browser.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Determine your availability
  • Convert between time zones
  • Display local times
  • Generate suggested meeting options
  • Format selected times for copying into email
  • Remember your time zone and user preferences

We do not use Google user data for advertising. We do not sell Google user data or personal information.

4. Google user data

Time Zone Buddy’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements where applicable.

Time Zone Buddy requests only the Google permissions necessary for calendar availability and time zone functionality. Time Zone Buddy does not create, edit, or delete calendar events.

5. Data storage

Your preferences and saved contact time zone information may be stored locally on your device using Chrome extension storage. If we introduce cloud storage in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy before doing so.

6. Data sharing

  • We do not sell personal information.
  • We do not share Google user data with advertisers.
  • Service providers may process data only as necessary to operate the product.
  • We may disclose information if required to do so by law.

7. Data retention

Locally stored data may remain on your device until you:

  • Clear the extension’s data
  • Remove saved information within the extension
  • Uninstall the extension

You can revoke Time Zone Buddy’s Google OAuth access at any time through your Google Account settings.

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security.

9. User choices

You may:

  • Connect or disconnect Google Calendar
  • Change or reset your time zone
  • Update saved contact time zones
  • Uninstall the extension
  • Revoke Google Account access

10. Children’s privacy

Time Zone Buddy is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
